At the final Broadway performance for Avenue Q, one of the show’s producers announced to the cast, crew and audience members that they need not bid the show goodbye – it is transferring Off-Broadway to the New World Stages on Oct 9!

This is one of the first shows (if not the first) to make the transition from Broadway to Off-Broadway and I personally could not be more thrilled that visitors to NYC will still be able to see it.

Casting has not been announced for the Off-Broadway version, though the same set, puppets and creative team will be used for the new staging.

And tomorrow, August 13, the cast of Avenue Q will appear on “Good Day New York” with a performance of “The More You Ruv Someone” (WNYW, Channel 5, from 7-10 AM ET) and on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” with “The Internet is for Porn” (NBC at 12:35 AM ET.)

On Tuesday, July 14 at 4:30 PM, the stars of 9-5 are scheduled to perform at the Barnes & Noble on Broadway and 66th Street. Rumor has it that you may even be able to score a copy of the new CD before they’re released to the general public on the 28th…

And if you don’t want to leave the comfort of your home, flip on the TV. Ann Harada and Anika Larsen, co-stars in Avenue Q, will perform on the July 9 broadcast of CW11 Morning News, airing in the New York metropolitan area on Channel 11 from 7-9 AM ET. They’ll be singing “The More You Ruv Someone” and “There’s a Fine, Fine Line.”

It’s a sad day on Broadway. Producers just announced that the critically acclaimed Avenue Q will close its run at the John Golden Theatre on September 13, 2009.

When it closes, the Tony-award winning Best Musical will have played 22 previews and 2,534 performances.
