They’re in! The 2022 Tony Awards nominations have been announced and it really does feel like we’re in full swing again!
The critically-acclaimed production of A Strange Loop topped the list of nominated musicals with 11 total nominations, with Paradise Square and MJ: The Musical right on its tail, garnering a total of 10 nominations each. Diana, Funny Girl and Mrs. Doubtfire, which all suffered mightily in the eyes of the critics this year, each managed to squeak out a single nomination each. This year’s other nominated musicals include: Company, Caroline, or Change, Flying Over Sunset, Girl From the North Country, Mr. Saturday Night, The Music Man, and Six.
This year’s Tony Awards return to the Radio City Music Hall on June 12th, and as it was last year, will again be presented as a combination of streaming and broadcast content. The pre-show will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Paramount+, and ceremony at 8 p.m. on CBS and Paramount+. This year’s awards are to be hosted by Ariana DeBose, and as we do every year, we’ll be live tweeting, Facebooking, blogging and updating throughout the evening. If you don’t already, following and/or subscribe to join in the fun.
Congrats to all of this year’s nominees, across all of this year’s awards. We can’t wait to see who takes home the pretty prizes, but are over-the-moon delighted for everyone who was recognized this year!
